Who Is Your Angel?
A huge success once again in 2011, By Chris Vaughan
A logistical obstacle did not get in the way of the Angels Race Triathlon being a huge success once again in 2011. While the race has traditionally been held at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC, issues with the Tanglewood pool and the Tour de Tanglewood Bike for MS, caused Mick Gunter, the race director, to made a big decision which turned out to be the perfect move for this year’s race. On Sunday, September 19, the Angels Race took place at the Clemmons West neighborhood in Clemmons, NC. This allowed for the race to still have a 300 yard pool swim, utilize basically the same bike course, and finish with a great 5k course through the neighborhood. Read More

Thanks to all the Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors & vendors who came out to make the angels race a great event yesterday. There were fast finishers who inspired us with their athletic talent, volunteers who motivated over 500 participants throughout the course, people racing for angels who shared their stories and their experiences, and some great music from “Epic Failure” and “Wax Mojo”. Thanks to all who came out, we hope to see you again in 2011!

Many thanks to all of the gracious volunteers who support the Angels Race. We could not race without those of you who put your lives aside for a day (or longer) in order to give others the opportunity to enjoy an athletic competition and remember a loved one. Your enthusiasm and selfless spirit reminds us of what this event is all about-lifting others up with a thankful heart.
Angels Race North Carolina 2008
2 years ago, I attended the Angel’s Race at Tangelwood. Everyone was waiting for the last person to finish. Finally, she came into view…a lovely large sized lady. She was running with all her heart. I cried as I always do when I see bravery. I high 5’d her as she passed by me & thought to myself, “if she can do this, so can i.” This year I finally put down the cigarettes, learned to swim, bought a bike & started training. My goal? To do the Angel’s Race. I don’t know that lady’s name but she is my earth angel.

I have been racing at Tanglewood since 2005. Yesterday was the best event ever! You guys did a great job! It was family friendly (my kids normally go to all of them with me and they said it was the best yet)! Incredible job! Thanks for letting us and Mt. Olive Pickles be a part of it. We really had a fun day.
